We found this unique and amazingly inexpensive idea for escort cards on one of our favorite blogs, Green Wedding Shoes. The wedding featured here is actually that of Amy Smart and Carter Oosterhouse, who, apparently are a well-matched eco-friendly couple who wanted their big day to be anything but a big drag on the environment. (Side note: due to their acute recycling/composting skills, they managed to walk away with a mere 1/2 bag of trash for the entire event, despite 220 guests. Amazing!)
Though the entire wedding was full of clever (and green) DIY ideas, our favorite was the escort cards.
It seems they cut strips of recycled paper into leaf shapes, wrote guest names with metallic pens, then attached to apples using sewing pins. The apples were then put into labeled baskets.
This is the final product! Wow! Looks like they also hung apples (like Christmas ornaments) from the tree for added color.
